What is taldro?
An inventory for the things you keep in boxes, at home or at work. Every thing has a photo, a quantity, a number and a place. Boxes go on shelves and shelves go in rooms, as many levels deep as you need. Put an NFC tag or a printed QR label on a box. Later, tap or scan it and the box opens on the screen, showing what is inside and where it belongs.
How do I get an account?
For now taldro is invite-only. If someone you know already uses taldro, ask them for an invite code. The owner of an inventory makes one under Members → Invite. You can also write to taldro@schauer.to and ask for an invitation. When you have a code, create your account at ui.taldro.com/register. You cannot sign up without an invite yet. To look around first, try the demo, which needs no account.
Can I share an inventory with my household?
Yes. People join an inventory with an invite code, and each member has one of three roles:
- Owners run the inventory: they invite and remove members and change its settings.
- Editors add, change and move things.
- Viewers look and search.
Every member sees the other members’ display names and roles. Only owners and editors see email addresses and can open stored receipts. Members and roles are part of every plan, the free one included.
Which devices does it run on?
- The web: ui.taldro.com in a current browser. Everything works there, including printing labels and scanning a QR code with the camera.
- Android: the app is not in Google Play yet. For now it is installed from an APK file from our GitHub releases, which we send you on request at taldro@schauer.to. It is coming to Google Play soon.
- iPhone: the iOS app is coming, but it is not available yet.
Does it work offline? What does scanning need?
taldro keeps your inventory on our server, so the app and the web need an internet connection to show or change anything. There is no offline mode. When the connection drops, the app shows “No connection”.
The Android app reads NFC tags, taldro’s QR labels and the barcodes already printed on products. It recognises codes on the phone itself and sends no image anywhere to do so. The web app scans QR codes with the camera.
What do the AI features do, and what is sent to Anthropic?
Four features use Claude, an AI model by Anthropic: drafting a new item from a photo, finding a thing from a photo, “Ask taldro” questions, and reading a receipt. The AI never changes your inventory by itself. It fills in a form for you to check, or it proposes a change that happens only when you confirm it.
- Only with your permission. Before any AI feature sends anything for the first time, taldro asks you, and says what is sent and to whom. Until you agree, our server sends nothing to Anthropic. You can withdraw the permission at any time under “Allow AI features” in the settings.
- What is sent: the photo, or your question with the names and places of up to 40 matching items, or the text of a receipt. Only what the feature needs. The requests come from our server, so Anthropic does not get your IP address, name, email address or account.
- At Anthropic: the data is not used to train models and is deleted within 30 days. The exception is content that Anthropic’s systems flag as breaking its usage policy, which may be kept for up to 2 years. Processing happens partly in the USA.
- How much: on taldro.com, every account with a confirmed email address gets 25 AI actions to try, once. One action is, for example, one photo draft, one find by photo or one question. When they are used up, AI pauses and everything else keeps working.
Search by meaning, duplicate hints and suggestions for which box a thing belongs in run only on our own server. They use no AI provider and do not count as AI actions. Section 9 of the privacy notice has the details.
Where is my data stored?
On servers of Hetzner Online GmbH in Falkenstein, Germany. This covers the database with your inventories and photos, and the encrypted backups made every hour. Email goes through Proton in Switzerland. Data goes to Anthropic, partly in the USA, only when you use an AI feature. This website sets no cookies and has no tracking or analytics.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes. Any member can export an inventory as one zip file with its items, photos, numbers, purchase details and trash, however many photos it holds. You can import the file into another taldro server, including one you run yourself.
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Inventory hub → Your account, or on the web at ui.taldro.com/account. If you are the only owner of an inventory, first make another member an owner or delete that inventory. If you cannot sign in, email us from the account’s address. The account deletion page lists every step and what is deleted.
What does it cost?
Nothing at the moment. The free plan is for home use and includes 2,000 items, every feature apart from taldro’s AI, and the 25 AI actions to try it. We plan paid plans (Home, Teams and Enterprise), but none can be booked yet and taldro takes no payments. The planned prices are on the home page.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes, at demo.taldro.com. One click gives you a guest account with an example inventory, in English or German, for 30 minutes. You need no email address. After 30 minutes the guest and everything in it are deleted. The demo holds up to 60 items, and the AI features are switched off there for now.
How do I reach you, and is taldro up?
Write to taldro@schauer.to about invitations, questions, problems or your data. status.taldro.com shows whether the website, the API and the demo are up. They are checked every minute. The operator is named in the Impressum.
Deutsch
Die App ist englischsprachig. Die Bezeichnungen unten sind die der App.
Was ist taldro?
Was braucht das Scannen?
Ohne Verbindung zeigt die App „No connection“.
Was machen die KI-Funktionen, und was geht an Anthropic?
Was kostet taldro?
